Week 4: From Plans to Playbook
We’re moving from listening and setup to playbooks and execution. Over the past week, the Transition Steering Committee focused on turning everything we’ve heard from policy committees, department briefings, and community input into clear first-100-day actions. Our goals haven’t changed: keep core city services steady through the handoff, publish straightforward plans the public can track, and keep building the team that can deliver.
Policy committees are now drafting concise Summaries of Findings using a shared template. Each summary captures key themes and trends, what’s working today, where the gaps are, opportunities to strengthen programs, and specific recommendations with clear owners and timelines. This common format makes it easier to roll everyone’s work into a single First-100-Days framework, so residents can see what we’re doing, who’s responsible, and when to expect progress. If you haven’t shared your perspective yet, please take a minute at wilsontransition.org; new input is still shaping these drafts.
On operations, our briefings with department heads continue to prioritize continuity of service, keeping 311 responses moving, permitting predictable, and parks cared for while we identify early “unblockers” that don’t require new resources.
We’re also building the team. Recruitment is underway for the Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) Director and core Mayor’s Office roles, with additional city operations postings queued. If you’re collaborative, mission-driven, and outcomes-focused or know someone who is, please visit wilsontransition.org/hiring and help us spread the word.
What’s next: we’ll move the draft First-100-Days framework into internal review. And don’t forget to save the date for Wilson’s Inauguration which will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The Inauguration Ceremony takes place 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Somerville High School Auditorium (81 Highland Ave.), followed by a public reception 7:30–10:30 p.m. at the Somerville Armory (191 Highland Ave.). A Kid & Teen Zone will run 5:00–8:30 p.m. at the Armory so families can celebrate together. All events are free and open to the public—more details on the City’s website.
Thank you for your partnership during a busy season. We’ll keep turning your input into clear playbooks and visible progress. As always, updates and opportunities to participate: wilsontransition.org.
